My conflicted compromise (2007)

My Conflicted Compromise was recorded in 2007, back when I was trying to prove to myself that I could finish a full project on my own terms. It was recorded independently, without label backing, contracts, or debt hanging over it. The mixing and mastering were rough, and the project never got much reception, but that was never the whole point. I wrote it, built it, and saw it through from start to finish.

The songs pull from where I was at the time: gambling, grief after losing my grandfather, drinking too much tequila, making reckless choices, and trying to understand myself in the middle of it. Looking back, I can also hear the Buffalo, New York influence all through it, even before I had language for that sound. It did not break through, but it remains proof that I made something real and finished it on my own.
